As soon as I was born,
He was there.
He begged to have a place,
Inside me…
His frail demeanour,
Earned my love, and
Earned him an abode.
He grew up,
Surreptitiously,
Nourishing himself
From my blood,
My dreams, my emotions.
Like a shadow,
Adhering to me, always.
And, then, one day
The pay-off happened.
He devoured me. Whole.
But, dear Death,
Now, homeless, you too!
As your abode
Ceases to exist.
Ah! Wonderful poem.
