The world we see around us has myriad colours and shades. The cerulean sky, the verdant valleys, the vibrant waterfall, steep mountains or roaring oceans- all are combined perfectly to make this planet a beautiful place. We are born and grow up with some specific ideas about our surroundings. These ideas are a conglomeration of thoughts and perceptions gathered through the process of developing our personality. Some ideas are inherited, some are instilled in us, some we acquire with our knowledge and learning.
Life teaches us various things; the most important of them being the ability to accept changes. Changes not only clear away the stagnancy but also make way for newer and better ideas. Our mind is able to process thoughts even faster than the light. Sometimes, I weigh in my mind a few changes; mostly the fruition of an over-working brain, but what if the changes could be realized?
Changes I Dream Of
Mutual respect and love for each other. As human beings, we belong to the same society and share the same religion, the religion of humanity. The howling of war, the chilling sound of bullets piercing through someone’s heart- do these really elevate one’s position among the humankind? A little kindness to heal others’ wounds, a touch of love to alleviate one’s pain can fill the heart with insurmountable joy. I dream of such a change- a Utopian wish it might sound, but I nurture it in my mind.
Saving Mother Earth. Our planet is nurturing us fulfilling our every need for existence. But do we care for her? Do we ever think how much pain we are causing to her when we mercilessly felled the trees in the name of development? We are an inseparable part of Earth; if she thrives and flourishes, so will us. It’s time to stop the cacophony of the concrete and, listen to the unheard melodies of our eternal mother, Earth.
I want to make the world a better place sans the influence of unscrupulous politicians. I firmly believe, that, without their wicked power-hungry shadows and crooked plans aiding and abetting numerous Machiavellian schemes, the world would be a much better place.
My gracious readers, you must be thinking that the scorching heat of the summer has really taken a toll on me as I’m penning down such quixotic ideas. Yes, I know, such starry-eyed dreams of changing the world will never come true.
But, there is something which we need to change and WE CAN. We can change our way to look at the world. And, we can do that by donating eyes.
India has the largest population of BLIND PEOPLE in the world. The number is a staggering 12 million! But do you know in most of such cases, the blindness can be cured if YOU DONATE your eyes.
Ever tried to walk a while closing your eyes? Ever imagined to have lived in a world where there is no colour? Or light? Didn’t you just feel a cold shiver down your spine even with the mere thought?
More than 2.5 lakh people could be benefited by the corneal transplantation of donated eyes. But the lack of awareness and intention often act as a hindrance for eye donation. It’s time to change. Let someone see through your eyes after your death. Open your inner ‘I’ and take a pledge to donate your ‘eye’. Do you have the conscience and courage to take the #Dare2Starechallenge?
I have taken the challenge. I HAVE PLEDGED TO DONATE MY EYES AND FIGHT BLINDNESS. It’s your turn.
PLEASEwatch this video and, think. Listen carefully to your heart and, act. Someone, somewhere in darkness, is awaiting your eyes.
A heart warming video and there is only one religion humanity, high time to insult the earth by savage development, damaging our environment. Loove the post:)
This really touches somewhere. Donate your eyes is indeed a noble cause, though we all shy away from even discussing this. Loved the way you have presented it using the simplest of words possible. Great piece Maniparna.
One honest confession..love the name “Maniparna” 🙂
A wonderful and inspiring post Maniparna! I hope this will inspire many others to follow your step and invitation. In the Netherlands, we are supporters to an organisation that provides training for guided dogs for the blind/partially sighted and also supporting the organ donors movement. Hope the movement will spread to India 🙂
Great to know about it, Indah. Trained dogs for visually impaired people can help them in so many ways! It’s also a measure for their personal security, especially women. I hope such movement will one day also be introduced in our country. 🙂 Thanks a lot, dear…

Good initiative and a very noble cause Aparna. It’s true that we all have some Utopian wishes which may not become true. We may not see the world change but yes we can make the change by changing ourselves. Kudos!
