The Joy of Seeing the Flowers Bloom

“Flowers are restful to look at. They have neither emotions nor conflicts” Sigmund Freud

This quote seems so much more during this time of the pandemic. It’s a time when we are bound to confine ourselves to our home; our mind has nothing to play with except our myriad feelings which become a farrago of grey and black textures with tinges of disappointment and unhappiness, no matter how hard we try to avoid the negativity.

COVID 19 has made us realize how insignificant, how helpless we are as a species on this planet. Yet, it’s the human beings, who love to consider themselves as the greatest! What an irony! Mother Gaia has had enough. I like to think of this situation as her recovery stage; from the wounds, from the blunders, we have done to her.

“Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace” May Sarton

I love gardening and, I’ve written about my small roof-garden earlier on this blog.

During all this time, I never could fathom the fact, that, how much this space means to me until this year. This green patch has provided me with all the positive vibes, kind thoughts and strength to keep sane among all disorders. I never felt claustrophobic even during the strict lock-down phase. The plants, as we all know, need a lot of labour and attention. They thrive when we expend effort on them. And, trust me, you will feel contented when the wind rustles through the green leaves and colourful petals. Exaggeration, oh yes, but it’s really like floating on air. The joy of accomplishing more than I can ever imagine, always make me genuflect to Mother Nature.

Presenting some glimpses from my garden.

Do you love gardening? Do you have one? Kindly share your happy thoughts with us.  🙂

  1. The garden is blooming. I agree sad that humans consider themselves as unique despite surrounded by nature. Gardening is one thing I’d like to explore since soiling hands irritates me but about time to take it as a challenge, Maniparna.
