Articulating every move of humans; As if they’re preyed on, and devoured slowly With only the shadows leaving behind Of yesteryears, memories, Of known happiness, unsolicited sorrows And unsatiated hope– untamed, powerful. The elixir of existence.
Maniparna, at the fag end of the year, your poem beautifully conveys the essence of time that concocts the elixir of existence with contours of happiness, unsolicited sorrows, unsatiated hopes. Wonderfully written and illustrated.
Mani, this poem of yours much like a crafty artist have captured the core essence of life and living…memories are what we are left with us and as time goes by we have an extended memories and also memories keep fading.
Hope and happiness; are what drives us in our present and future is all about hope. The shadows are there with us, some are good and some are bad, the memories are layered in these paradox and the poem connects the light and the darkness, the soft and the hard part of life. I like the use of “unsolicited sorrows”, the reflection and it is indeed an elixir of existence…
Wishing you Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
Hope you are having a great weekend.
😀
This is an outstanding poem, Mani…I love how you have put two paradoxical ideas to convey the power that time wields on our dreams, hopes and happy moments. 🙂
Nice lines, Mani, to contemplate on for end of the year. Unfulfilled hopes and unsatiated desires are verily the elixir of existence. It also reminds me of Longfellow:
“Not enjoyment, and not sorrow, / Is our destined end or way; / But to act, that each to-morrow / Find us farther than to-day. // Art is long, and Time is fleeting, / And our hearts, though stout and brave, / Still, like muffled drums, are beating / Funeral marches to the grave”.
In the world’s broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Hi, hope you are doing nice. I don’t why and how this comment and another comment of yours on my “New Year” post, both landed in my spam folder. 😦 I recovered them a while ago while looking up in the folder. WP do behave in a strange way at times.
Thanks for such an insightful comment. Wish you and your family a great 2018 ahead… 🙂
As always, it’s beautiful to return here…To be reminded of the positive side of words .. Unmasked.
