While it’s springtime all over the country with festivities going around, aspiring students are busy preparing for the JEE Main.

Every year, hundreds of brilliant students appear for the JEE Main or the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the CBSE. The JEE Main is the national level exam for admission to various engineering colleges and courses across India.

As a national level exam, it demands hard work and diligence from the aspiring students. Students only can pave the path to success through their assiduity. So, like every year, the cream of students are preparing for the JEE Main which is likely to be held on April 02, 2017 (offline mode) and April 08 and April 09, 2017 (online mode).

The tentative date for the announcement of the result is April 27, 2016. After that, Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will be conducting the JEE Main counselling and seat allotment in six rounds.  Only those applicants who will qualify in JEE Main 2017 will be eligible to participate in the counselling session, likely to be conducted in the month of July. For more details, kindly refer to link given above.

The main purpose of JoSAA is to provide a common online platform for counselling and admission to 92 participating institutes of JEE Main 2017.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has notified following two changes in the JEE pattern for 2017:

1. There shall be no weightage for the 12th class marks in calculating the ranks in the JEE (Main) examination,

2. For the candidates to qualify for the admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE(Main) ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

  3. Yes, this assurance to our own hearts that I did my best or tried to the extreme is very much needed for a student. I think it gives her/him a kind of confidence and tranquillity of mind.

Thanks a lot, Mabel, for sharing your experience… 🙂

  4. It has become a hundred times more competitive in the last ten years. Best wishes to those giving these exams and I hope they remember, it is not the end of the world if they don’t make it. Informative post!

  5. It sounds like a very competitive process. At the same time you can see it as a time for students to focus and work hard, focusing on their subjects and putting all their energies into understanding the world of engineering and related courses. I remember doing my O’Levels in Singapore and that was already competitive enough for me. I worked hard enough to get into the Science stream in my school and though my O’Level marks at the end were not what I expected (with English being my worst subject), I told myself I did my best 😀
