She…..

sad-little-girl-1585505

She was standing by the gate
Puffy eyes, traces of teardrops
On her cheeks and vacant look.
Perhaps a scowl from mum, or
A cold scornful look from dad
Or a lost kitten, broken Barbie
Might be a fight with best friend
I didn’t know.
A breeze ruffled her hair,
It sighed perhaps
At her untold sadness and
The shadowy calmness of eyes.
Like a flower with wilted petals
Like a queen dethroned.
She was standing by the gate….

I wanted to see the stars
Twinkling in her eyes.
A  light pat, a soft kiss I placed.
A little compassion, bit of empathy,
Keys to happiness.
I just felt, perfectly said.

  1. Tender and brimming with affection, Mani. So delicate your verses are. I’m sure the gloom in her face would have flown away had she really read last stanza.

  3. Maniparna what a depiction of sadness and despair in your poetry of this little cute girl and taking care of it with love tenderness and kindness in the end with very deep and creative words.

  4. Touching… But it left something amiss. Like.. Maybe i would have gone and run my hand over her head, cajoled her to make her smile… Anything for the little one.

  5. So many emotions!! Well captured Mani…’wilted petals’ is my favorite expression as it hits the heart right away. Also what caught my attention is the grip of her hand, which conveys her insecurity…probably she needs a friend like you! 🙂 Your words are so much in consonance with the lovely picture.
