Decoration Made By Me @My House
Diwali is the festival of lights. On this day, every nook and corner of India, every farthest corner, gets illuminated with lights, candles, and earthen diyas. This festival denotes the triumph of goodness over evil, the removal of darkness from our minds and prevailing of the holy light as it shines.
It is also celebrated in my state, West Bengal as we worship Goddess Kali, the ultimate incarnation of womanhood. She is a fighter, rules over all demonic forces, cares little about her attire and wears a garland made from decapitated heads. Those are symbolic to ignorance, ego, envy, greed and all those traits that exude negative energy. She wears them on her own and thus saves humankind from committing those sins, so goes the symbolism behind this.
Here’s wishing all of my friends and families a very happy Diwali. Let all the darkness of our minds be illuminated. Let there be light!

I am little late but yes, the festival brings so much joy and fun through the lights and sweets, though the crackers is never a good idea to disturb our decibel level, but going crazy about the crackers and not having a control is what is a cause of concern. This time across different cities especially Delhi have significantly reduced the bursting of crackers and have enjoyed the spread of light and sweet.
Yes, it is ultimate incarnation of womanhood and the triumph of good over evil is what makes the day so special.
Hope you had a great time.

Right, Nihar. I don’t like crackers at all, I feel very much disturbed and afraid to some extent with the crackers! This year, you are right, crackers were comparatively less and I witnessed more fireworks with simple lights and normal sound. 🙂
I had a great diwali…hope you had enjoyed it too… 🙂

Happy Diwali, hope the Festival of Lights was extra special and meaningful. It is our Friday the 13th, so some people are “superstitious!” Enjoy the weekend, Maniparna. Smiles, Robin

My knowledge of Hindu mythology is minimal to the extent of it being embarrassing! Love reading such snippets every now and then, though.
