Traditional haiku poets use this form and, haiku poems written in English also, most of the times, use it. Modern Japanese haiku poets use different forms though, of 14 or 15 syllables.
Master Basho used the 5-7-5 form. Haiku Society of America also uses this one… 🙂

That’s real haiku. Wonderful capture of moment. The phrase ‘I love you’ isn’t enough to express the emotions of love. Simply great 🙂
