Happiness

1-Jalpaiguri 139-001

And, so, everything perishes
Beauty is but short-lived
But the image which mind holds
For tiny, little things
The fragrance, set deep in memory
Surfaces up
Exuding unexpected happiness.

  1. I like this because often it really is a scent that triggers a memory that is buried deep within us and will waft up to the surface to bring us happiness. Lovely imagery.

  2. Your poem is quite accurate about life and sometimes the brevity of certain forms of happiness. A floral bouquet may be in its prime for only a week, then it declines. Seasons and their beauty..

  3. There is so much beauty in this world that can be shared to make other lives happier. I like to think that poets do well in this area!

  4. That’s a good counter poem to ‘Beauty is skin deep’ quote 🙂

I second you on your words. Beauty may last for moments but wins heart for ever. Like this poem 😛

  5. Beauty is short lived indeed maniparna. The tiny little things and the happiness in it – is surely eternal. Just like that mastercard ad which says – These are the things money cant buy, for everything else theres mastercard 😀 🙂

  6. Flowers look all the more beautiful when caught through your lens. A beautiful image complimenting the equally beautiful lines. Yes, a thing of beauty is a joy forever. The image of the dew drops, the fragrance from the petals and words from a poet stay for a long time 🙂
