We have to watch numerous advertisements all through the day, willingly or unwillingly. Colourful, vibrant, gorgeous and natty, most of them. But do we remember them all? A very few of them make us think; fewer even, have that depth to make us feel one with the theme. This latest #GreatDad video from SBI Life Insurance is one of those very few advertisements which touches the right chord of your heart. Check this out and you’ll surely nod your head in unison with my previous statement.
What makes a great Dad? Well, though the question is simple, but the answer is not. A mother loves her children unconditionally while the love of a great father has many shades in it. He not only loves his children but cares for them, protects them, ensures their safety and teaches them the ways of life. He is the meticulous architect who, with great patience, designs the foundation of his dream project and tries in every way to make it a grand success. A father builds the future of his children. A father shows his kids how to live a life and instills in them his very own qualities. We seek for motherly love whenever we feel bad, whenever the outer world hurts us. A mother’s love is a magic potion that heals all our wounds, but a father’s love provides us the courage to fight against those, which are the causes of our wounds.
As it is said, a daughter’s first hero is her father. My Baba (dad) is still my hero, even after my marriage. He is the person who is always there to support me. He never discourages me to do anything, how much weird or experimental it may sound to others. For he knows that he would be there to hold me, in case I fail in my endeavours.
From my very childhood, he believed in me. I remember one of my school’s annual events when I fell ill. I still wanted to participate in the 100 meters race. My mother discouraged me and said that my physical condition would worsen from the strain and hence I should refrain myself from participation. But my father said, ”Let her try, winning matters least. The fact that she has tried her best will give satisfaction and enhance her determination”. I secured the third position in that competition.
Again, when I decided to start my own business few years back, there was hardly anyone who supported the idea. Most of my relatives and friends weighed in with the opinion that it would be a waste of time and wealth. This time also, Baba counted on me by saying,” You’ve only one chance to prove others wrong. If you win, it’s your victory, and if you fail, I’ll be there to share it….because I’ll consider it as my failure too.” His words provided that much-needed determination and courage that often are the driving forces behind success.
This is my father, my Baba, one of the#GreatDads I’ve ever seen. He scolds me when I break rules, holds me when I cry, supports me against all odds, his joy knows no bound in my success, and, above all, he believes in me. He has tried his best to secure our future, me, and my sister. He invested wisely and insured our happiness. In every step of my life, his wisdom and planning have supported me and has helped me a lot to fulfill my dreams in my own way. My father went through a lot in order to get me to where I started. But that has made him not only an ideal father, but an idol to his daughter.
Don’t you think it’s one of the responsibilities of a #GreatDadto ensure his child’s future? Get insured. Zindagi Haske Bitayenge.
Once a group of my friends were discussing our dads, And out of 12 of us only to had completely positive things to say. And I’m afraid I am over the hero worship. So glad that you have such a great relationship with your dad.
I know Georgia, there are darker sides…. Have heard, read some really horrifying stories! But still, for most of us, it’s a great relationship, A father means a person who protects, supports and loves unconditionally 🙂 …
Daughters do share a special bond with their dad. I remember how my dad used to tell me one story every single day throughout my childhood… from the time I could barely understand his words till the time I was much older and finishing his sentences for him. ❤ He still loves telling stories, and I love him so much for that. 🙂 A very lovely and touching post.
We’ve so many beautiful memories related with our dads…memories which always make us happy. My baba used to tell me stories too…I just remember while reading your comment 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing those wonderful moments 🙂
I missed the ad on TV but as I watched the video here it rekindled some beautiful memories of childhood…I used do the same thing…copying dad in shoe polishing, painting, reading newspapers and playing cards… and many other things 😀 Beautiful post, Maniparna! ❤ u for this. 🙂 You're a lucky girl to get a great dad. Give my regards to him.
Lovely post.. have seen a fair amount of dads with their daughters .. Most were always protective in a liberating sort of way.. which was not suffocating.
I am glad you have such a wise and loving dad .. but you deserve it girl or rather He made you worthy to deserve him 🙂
Thanks a lot, Kokila & Ravish…. I agree, he has helped us to grow up in a way that he can rely on our decisions… and thanks to God, we’ve never disappointed him till date… 🙂
