Darkness of night, seductive but shy
Conjures secrets, silently they lie
Sorrows and wounds, clandestine
Some are infamous, some benign.
I want to hold the darkness, layer by layer
It makes you confess, past sins, crystal clear
Getting rid of them, rubbing the dark out of mind
Somewhere, a rose blooms, darkness behind.
Mind opens up when it’s dark
Dearth of light, truth doth lurk

Darkness is always spurned by nearly everyone. May be, because it it’s secretive and hides everything. Light is always temporary. A burst of limited energy in the universe, which always remain constant, as per Einstein. That’s the reason the infinite universe is dark.
Loved the line, ‘I want to hold the darkness – layer by layer’! Don’t know why, it sounds so mystical! It was very beautiful poem, Maniparna!
Always loved darkness and black. Didn’t know that it had a name too! Nyctophilia! 🙂

I can feel the mysticism in darkness. Night is my favourite time…I don’t know why, but I never get the enthusiasm to write anything creative during daytime. Maybe just a mind-block…but it happens.
Glad to know that someone else loves night ardently 😀

Night is always associated with mysticism. It’s exactly the same with me. Most of my stories are written late at night. Even in music, I always preferred either midnight ragas, like Malkauns or Hemant, or too early morning (4 am or so) his ragas, such as Lalit or Basant.
My guess would be, you were born after sunset. Usually such people have an arcane association with night.

Not actually, I was born in the afternoon..Saturday it was and the 8th… so quite a weird combination according to numerology… 😀
LikeLike
Don’t know much about numerology, except that 8 is ruled by Saturn. Wo bhi isliye, kyuki I was born on the same date. In May. Saturday and 8th. Can’t say that it’s not a deadly combination!

I’m writing a short story inspired by this post. It’s based on a true séance which we conducted once and failed miserably. Nothing turned up. I’m keeping your DoB as the date of event. Of course, I’ll be using some poetic license while embellishing. Life events are always mundane and unromantic. Usme thoda garam masala daalna hi hota hai, to make it palatable. 😀
Let’s hope some vengeful spirit doesn’t decide to kick me before I post it!

Yo! 😛 Feeling so excited. Publish the story soon. And, yes, though we turn real life events to stories, but they always need a huge overhauling 😀
Aare nahi..unlogon ka internet kaafi slow hai, but I really hope your post should be shared on their “Spookbook”..jaise ke humlogon ka Facebook, unlogon ka koi Spookbook toh honahi chaahiye… 😀

The peace, the tranquillity and the beauty of darkness. At one end it is the hope of a new bright day and at the other, well you know what I am getting at.. I think I am a bit too metaphysical today.. Might be the movie I watched 😀 😀 .. Good one Maniparna 🙂

Very nicely written. It is always easier to confess when you feel no one is around, or when it is dark, so when you open your eyes to the world, it’s all gone 🙂

List of ‘philias’ is quite interesting… like recently I came across Clinophilia (abnormal affinity for bed) and identified it in me 😛
“Getting rid of them, rubbing the dark out of mind”- anyway this is temporary relief I feel… Nicely penned Maniparna 🙂
